It's time to get inventive with this edition of Creature Feature, as we uncover the new (and improved) tools coming to your creative arsenal in Planet Zoo 2.
Paving paths and plazas
In the original Planet Zoo, we had a limited number of path creation tools, with a system which meant it could take multiple attempts to make that path just right.
That all changes for Planet Zoo 2!
Paths in Planet Zoo 2 have had more than a lick of paint, with a greatly improved and expanded suite of tools that make creating path networks around your zoos a breeze, including:
- Line and Curve Builder - create a path between point A and B.
- Draw Tool - draw an area to create a shape which is then filled with the path.
- Stamp Builder - choose from premade shapes and create paths and plazas at the push of a button.
- Border Edit - fine control over the edges of your paths and plazas.
These tools also come complete with extensive customisation options, enabling you to choose everything from the colour of your paths to railings and supports.
Planet Zoo 2's new path tools make it incredibly simple to quickly place and fully customise your paths, whether you're creating sprawling plazas or closely aligning your paths to your aviaries, habitats and aquariums.
Moving mountains
The power to terraform your zoos is at your fingertips in Planet Zoo 2, thanks to returning and enhanced terrain manipulation tools.
Sculpting, stamping and painting are all returning, but these will include some new improvements to help get those little details juuuuuuust right.
Amongst other improvements, dynamic terrain paints will automatically adapt to suit the angle and elevation of the terrain, the curl tool will rotate terrain around the brush into a point and landscape stamps allow you to quickly create terrain features like dunes or rolling hills.
Fans of the original Planet Zoo will also be happy to hear that we've made a frequently requested addition - the new nature brush!
Nature brushes allow you to quickly paint foliage and rocks around your zoo, with settings to configure intensity, how they interact with paths and more.
At launch you'll be able to choose from a wide selection of nature brushes which we've created, but you can also create and save your own. No more placing rocks and foliage one by one, just choose or configure your brush and go!
A perfectionist's paradise
On top of some of the bigger additions we've made to make Planet Zoo 2's creative tools more accessible, we've also added more ways for you to get down and dirty with the details.
Scenery items can now be scaled and mirrored to add variation around your zoos or to get the perfect scenery piece down to the size you need. Flexicolour has been expanded too, with more objects (including paths!) that can have their colour customised.
We've also spent some time tinkering under the bonnet, making it easier to select scenery pieces, create groups and snap or align to surfaces. This means these tools will not only give you more creative options, the process of creating your zoos will be more intuitive.
Workshop wonders
Of course, building your zoo from the ground-up and configuring every little detail might not be your cup of tea!
Planet Zoo 2 will feature an extensive selection of pre-fabricated blueprints created by the team here at Frontier for you to use in your zoos at the click of a button.
It doesn't end there though!
The Frontier Workshop has also been fully integrated into Planet Zoo 2, allowing you to choose from thousands of blueprints created by the Planet Zoo 2 community directly within the game. No need to open additional windows or leave the game, simply browse the selection of creations, choose your favourite and you're ready to go!
Sharing your own creations with others is easy too, with a few simple steps to add your blueprint to the Frontier Workshop for use in zoos around the world.
Creature comforts
With lots of new features coming to Planet Zoo 2 we wanted to deliver a suite of creative tools which felt familiar to fans of the original, while making it easier than ever to pick up and play.
Hand in hand with aviaries, aquariums and Wildlife Reserves (more on them soon!), Planet Zoo 2's creative tools will enable you to truly let your creativity soar like never before.
